Get Rid of the Diets!

The problem with many people today, is they want something for nothing. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. (Well, you shouldn’t have even picked up the cake in the first place). In my opinion, any “diet” is not good, but some people believe otherwise. I will uncover the truth about some of the most popular fad diets out there.

Carb-Restricted Diet:

When carbs are unavailable for the body to use as fuel, the body must find an alternative source, known as ketones. In this case, your initially losing water weight, NOT fat because the body tries to get rid on excess ketones. Carbohydrates are the bodies min fuel for energy and for the brain central nervous system. Also, if carbohydrate stores are depleted, the rate at which fat is metabolized is reduced, resulting in a more difficult time in burning calories and fat. NOT GOOD!

Calorie-Restricted Diet:

With diets that restrict you to certain amount of calories, it is likely that one would not be getting the essential vitamins and minerals needed on a daily basis. The body’s priority is to have a sufficient amount of energy to carry out vital functions. Just because a food may have more calories, doesn’t mean it is necessarily bad for you.

If you haven’t caught on yet, if you’re thinking about “dieting,” DON’T! There are many myths out there that will tell you “don’t eat tomatoes because they slow down your metabolism” or “don’t eat carbs because they store are fat.” Living a healthy lifestyle and not restricting yourself from the nutrients that your body needs is key. Jumping from diet to diet will only make you gain weight in the long run. So in short, AVOID FAD DIETS and make healthy a habit!
