If there is one thing that I cannot stress enough, it has to be the importance of stretching. A vast majority of individuals already have an adequate level of flexibility. An ample amount of flexibility to meet the exigencies of their daily activities with ease, and room to spare for life’s emergencies such as falling, tripping, etc.
The stretching duration has depending factors, such as the style of stretching.
Dynamic Stretching – involves “swings” that only last a moment or so. This should be done before a workout to loosen up the muscles and joints.
Static Active Stretching- involves longer periods lasting 20 seconds to 1 minutes. This style is effective for recovery purposes and should be done after a workout.
Neither is better or more effective than the other, however, they should be done at different points of a workout.
